ABOUT

Hi, I’m Bug!

Yes, you did read that correctly! Just like the little creatures that make most people go “Ew!” but in my case they make me go “Awwww.” My preferred pronouns are They + Them - I’m non-binary, ace, and pan-romantic, but mainly I’m an artist in love with pretty much every animal you can imagine.

Nice to meet you!

A little more about me- I grew up in Texas and migrated to the east coast (Baltimore) to get a degree in illustration, printmaking, and book arts at the Maryland Institute College of Art (2013). After spending half a decade freelancing for a variety of editorial clients, I recently became a staff illustrator at American Greetings and moved to Cleveland, OH.

My work primarily focuses on playful line-less shapes inspired by a love for folklore, traditional printmaking textures, and the natural world. I usually weave themes of identity and social justice into my personal narratives- I am obsessed with the idea of creating shared intimacy and meaning through art.

Most days you can find me snuggled up on the couch with my iPad (or knitting) and my two cats (The Professor, and Atticus), watching some kind of true crime documentary.
